Each pack is assembled for under $10. Containers are easy-open (pull-top can lids) as families sometimes have no can opener or children cannot operate them. Foods must be edible at room temperature if a child isn’t old enough to cook. Certain commonly allergenic foods are omitted.

Packs are light enough for small children to carry in recyclable plastic bags. Educators at the school slip the packs into a child's backpack confidentially.
